Upgrade YOU

"If you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got."
     -  W.L. Bateman

One of the founding concepts of Positive Energy Bands is one of improvement. Imagine if, every day, you improved at everything you did. Even if its an incremental amount each day, over the course of a month you will have accomplished so much to be proud of.

Simply ask yourself, How can I do this better today?  Then, DO IT! =)

Some examples might include:
  • How can I work more efficiently today?
  • What is one way I can improve my relationship with someone?
  • What else can I do to increase the quality of my work?
  • What exercises would better help me shed a few pounds?

A helpful technique is to remind yourself throughout the day, with a Positive Energy Band, cell phone alert, or even a post it note, to improve at the things you do daily. Run that extra mile, save that extra dollar, and smile more.

"Instead of doing what you’ve always done, Always do better"

On that note, have a look at the following blog post to see behind the scenes how we’re stepping our game up at Positive Energy Bands!

Applied Positivity

"It's always fun to make sardonic remarks about happy people, which this cartoon certainly is.
When I was younger, I always thought that unhappy people were somehow smarter than happy people.
That unhappy people had this special insight that the brain-dead happy people weren't smart enough to perceive.
I no longer think that. Quite the opposite, in fact."
-Hugh Macleod

I love this cartoon and description by cartoonist Hugh Macleod. Having shared the same view when I was younger, I thought happy people were nuts and always faking it. Now I realize that it's the people who smile through the tough times who gets things done. It's hard sometimes to see the light at the end of the tunnel, especially living in a materialistic world where goals and material things meant self worth and happiness.

On a personal note, I went through depression a few times when I was younger. I know what it is like to go on a downhill spiral and viewing the world as a dark place. No one deserves to stay in that condition. With that being said, as easy as it is said that "it all starts with the mind" we forget our self worth when things seem to go against our way. It is important to have an attitude of "applied positivity". I'm not saying to be bubbly and smile 24/7. That's just not realistic and downright annoying. Applied positivity is similar to looking inside you and finding that inner power to get through tough times. When you fall down, you get back up. That's the secret of life.

The Virtual Reality of Cyber Bullying

While the internet, along with its many social media and communication resources, have brought on a new method of bullying, Cyber Bullying. While the internet has brought on this new form of bullying, the world wide web is not the enemy and many are actually using it to confront the issue.  "Submit" the documentary aims to do this.

Check out their site here:
Submit: The Reality of Cyberbullying

From their website:

Cyberbullying impacts the average kids who focus on school and having fun as teenagers. At any moment, with the push of a button, one of those kids gets targeted and becomes the main target for cyberbullying. Over time, without awareness from parents or actions from peers, he or she becomes miserable and they can go down a wrong path.
The fact is that these kids may feel alone, but they are not and SUBMIT shows that.
The fact is that technology is not the enemy, but parents must understand how their kids live with it, wield it and both benefit & suffer through it.  SUBMIT shows that.
The fact is that there are experts, teachers, activists and politicians that understand cyberbullying and have dedicated their positions to control it; and stop it.  SUBMIT shows that.
Cyberbullying continues to intensify across the digital world and we are at a tipping point. We must make the consequences clear and lead our kids to accept the responsibility that comes with a hyperconnected world.
